Teenage Sociologist presents 'Confessions of a Klang Valley Girl'

 'Barf me out.'

As you probably know, according to Wikipedia, a Valley girl is " a stereotype depicting a socio-economic class of women characterized by the colloquial California English dialect Valleyspeak and vapid materialism. The term originally referred to an ever increasing swell of semi-affluent and affluent middle-class and upper-middle class girls living in the early 1980s Los Angeles commuter towns of the San Fernando Valley.'

Now, let us explore the world of the Klang Valley Girl. Painstaking research and following such flighty creatures has led me to define them as such: usually adolescent or young adult female who was born into a wealthy middle class/upper class family and lived in the KL-Selangor area for at least 5 years of their early life. Speak Manglish mostly and prioritise shopping and partying well before sitting home and studying.

While this is really bad journalism, it makes for entertaining 'sociological' analysis. A prime example of this would be when I went shopping with my PC cousin in Topshop, (they have excellent deals) when I spotted the queen bee of the Klang Valley Girls. For the sake of anonymity, we shall bestow upon her the name, Savage Tan.

Savage has shown herself to be childish and petulant when failing to get her way. A boy by the name of Lucky (name changed) was presumed to like her but she reportedly rejected his romantic advances and remains friends. Lucky still can be seen hanging around/with her at various lunchtimes.

Savage also was very insulted when paired with two nerdy boys from my school, for an 'induction date' where an older student, usually of the opposite gender, welcomes the newcomer to the school in an induction date. Several sources claim they saw her crying in the boarding house common room about it, but an unnamed source refutes this because she has gleaned valuable information regarding Savage through Savage's unexpected confessions to her.

Savage intends on being a doctor. While this is not in keeping with the typical academic focus, or rather lack there of, of a stereotypical pure-bred Klang Valley girl, this might actually prove to be contrary. An important part of the Klang Valley girl culture is 'STATUS' , and since they are Asian, being a doctor is a huge status symbol-plus.

There we have it.
Till, then, keep that bod bodacious. Barf me out.
